Role Summary

This is a field-based and remote opportunity supporting a sales team in an assigned geography.

Area Business Leader (ABL) is responsible for directing a team of Territory Account Specialists in delivering tailored customer experiences based on account and HCP needs, fostering clinical dialogue to generate demand, and partnering with cross-functional teams to establish Novartis as a preferred customer partner. The role includes mentoring team members, driving high performance, and executing brand strategy and tactics.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, develop, retain, mentor, and lead a diverse team to deliver strategic sales objectives, establish accountability, and manage KPIs.
  • Model leadership by communicating clear expectations, promoting accountability, enabling others, and challenging the status quo.
  • Mentor Territory Account Specialists to coordinate total account calls and ensure customer needs are met with vitality.
  • Develop and implement a customer-centric business plan with cross-functional partners to optimize customer experience and product demand.
  • Serve as a member of the regional leadership team contributing to regional goals, business execution, and culture.
  • Foster a customer-centric culture where teams act as engaged business owners, encouraging problem-solving, collaboration, experimentation, and constructive risk-taking.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge in clinical, access and reimbursement, territory management, and use of omni-channel marketing tools to mentor team members.
  • Use analytics to guide decisions and identify risks and opportunities to optimize resource deployment.

Qualifications

  • 2+ yearsβ€šΓ„Γ΄ sales leadership experience in pharmaceutical/biotech or other highly regulated consumer products. Internal candidates may be eligible if they completed the Novartis Emerging Leaders Development Program (ELDP) or have 2+ years of relevant management experience within the last two years.
  • Demonstrated leadership in sophisticated selling environments (physician, managed markets, limited physical access) with proven success selling biopharmaceutical products to specialty & institutional customers.
  • Residence within the territory or within 100 miles of the territory border; ability to travel 60β€šΓ„Γ¬80% across a broad geography; valid driverβ€šΓ„Γ΄s license.

Education
