Summary/Job Purpose
- The Engineer I - AI and Agentic prototypes, builds, and deploys agent-based applications that accelerate enterprise IT and business workflows, producing spec-driven, testable, production-ready solutions aligned to security, compliance, and responsible AI standards.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Build pilot AI applications and agentic workflows under senior engineer direction; translate ideas into prototypes.
- Prototype rapidly (vibe-coding), then evolve into maintainable code via specifications, structured prompts, tests, modular design, and error handling.
- Develop agents that automate multi-step IT and business tasks by connecting LLMs, prompts, tools, and APIs.
- Use coding agents and modern developer tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex) to accelerate delivery.
- Execute CI/CD pipeline tasks for automated testing, build validation gates, and artifact versioning.
- Write documentation/runbooks (architecture notes, setup instructions, operational SOPs, end-user guidance).
- Participate in prompt/spec reviews, code reviews, and pre-release testing/validation.
- Apply secure-by-design and responsible AI principles (data handling, privacy, safe prompting aligned to policy).
Education/Experience
- Bachelorโs in CS/AI/Data Science/Software Engineering (or related) + 3 years relevant experience; or Masterโs + 1 year; or equivalent combination.
- Up to 2 years relevant experience in AI application, data science, automation, including hands-on work with LLM-enabled applications, agentic workflows, and API integrations.
Required Skills
- Exposure to LLMs, prompt engineering, agent frameworks, or AI application development.
- Understanding of agentic concepts: tool use, planning/execution loops, guardrails, prompt/version management, context engineering.
- Familiarity with automated testing (unit/integration), linting, and CI pipelines.
- Communication skills; ability to learn new tools quickly; attention to security/privacy/compliance.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, Git, and software development fundamentals.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to AWS Cloud/AWS Bedrock/Databricks Mosaic AI (or comparable).
- Exposure to AI-native engineering with Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot (or equivalent).
- General to intermediate Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
