Role Summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking an Advanced Surgical Consultant to join the Abiomed team in Daytona or Orlando, Florida. This field-based role supports Cardiac Surgeons and Heart Failure Cardiologists across the US, enabling physicians and staff to recover hearts and save patients’ lives through the Impella product portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Train, educate, and support combined CT/Heart Failure programs on the proper use of the Impella 5.5 with SmartAssist
  • Full customer immersion within 5.5 sites to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Train, educate and provide support with Medical Office and Engineering to support EFS/PMA efforts and full commercialization of the BTR pump and future technologies
  • Device expertise and support on Impella 5.0/ LD to aid adoption of the full portfolio
  • Clinical and technical expertise and support of Breethe Oxy-1 for system integration and expansion beyond initial launch
  • Participate in launch, training, and education of combined Surgical/Heart Failure programs on Breethe Oxy-1 with the Breethe Clinical Team
  • Collaborate with Commercial, Training, Engineering, Marketing, Professional Education, Clinical, and R&D teams
  • Maintain contact with customers to evaluate clinical and educational needs
  • Perform device training on the full Impella Surgical Device lineup
  • Provide advanced acumen on the durable, acute, and hemodynamic medical device landscape and best practices
  • Cultivate relationships with strategic partners and key opinion leaders
  • Input to management on clinical results and sales
  • Call points: Cardiac Surgeons, Heart Failure Cardiologists, OR teams, Intensivists, Perfusionists, ICU/Step Down Unit teams
  • Staff major conferences and advanced surgical courses and local heart failure/surgical symposiums

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; licensure as RNFA, NP, PA, or Perfusionist
  • Direct (at the table) experience in Cardiac Surgery/Perfusion; 5+ years preferred
  • Direct patient management experience in cardiothoracic ICU with post-op tMCS or durable MCS, or direct CVOR assistance
  • Confidence and familiarity with cardiac surgery and OR protocol
  • Willingness to travel and cover multiple geographies; previous experience desired
  • Up to 50–75% overnight travel may be required
  • Previous experience with Abiomed or other cardiac medical devices highly desired
  • Ability to drive patient outcomes
  • Compliance with all state and federal laws/regulations governing the medical device industry
  • Valid US driver’s license

Education

  • Bachelors’ Degree required; relevant clinical licensure as noted in Qualifications
