Position Summary:
The Advanced Buyer manages purchasing activities with increased independence and complexity, supporting supply continuity across assigned materials and suppliers. This role exercises judgment to address supply challenges, manage inventory levels, and coordinate across functions. A strong understanding of production planning principles and specialized knowledge in sourcing sensitive materials such as human blood products is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute procurement activities to support production, inventory health, and service objectives
- Collaborate with production planning teams to synchronize purchasing with manufacturing schedules, capacity, and demand forecasts
- Source critical and sensitive materials (including human blood products) in compliance with regulations and quality standards
- Place and manage purchase orders, monitor supplier performance, and follow up on delays/issues
- Analyze inventory levels, demand, lead times, production plans, and human blood availability for replenishment decisions and supply continuity
- Generate human blood units assignment by analyzing screening data to ensure optimal utilization and compliance
- Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory data in the ERP system per SOPs
- Communicate supply status, risks, constraints, and potential production impacts
- Collaborate with manufacturing, planning, suppliers, and vendors to resolve supply challenges and adjust plans
- Support continuous improvement; use Power BI, SmartSheets, and Excel for analysis and reporting
- Write and communicate effectively in English
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3–5 years’ experience in purchasing/procurement, supply chain, production planning, manufacturing, or sourcing sensitive biological materials (human blood)
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and integrating production planning data
- ISO-regulated environment experience (ISO 9001 / ISO 13485) preferred
Desired Certifications:
- APICS CSCP, CPSM, or CPP (highly desirable)
