Responsibilities
- Lead monthly and quarterly close processes for assigned accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Manage, coach, and lead two or more direct reports
- Own sections of quarterly and annual SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K), including footnote disclosures
- Own complex biotech-relevant accounting areas: leasing (ASC 842), fixed assets, software capitalization, G&A operating expenses, prepaids/accruals, and taxes
- Identify and escalate emerging accounting risks; recommend appropriate positions
- Maintain and enhance SOX-compliant internal controls
- Coordinate with internal/external auditors; manage audit requests
- Manage strategic partnerships with FP&A, Tax, Legal, IT, and Operations
- Identify control gaps and implement remediation plans
- Develop accounting policies, procedures, and documentation
- Lead process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce manual work, and improve data quality
- Provide mentorship and career development

Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred
- 7+ years relevant experience (Big 4/similar audit with SEC-registered clients and industry experience)
- Biotech industry experience strongly preferred
- ERP/finance systems experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint
- Proficiency in AI-enabled tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini)

AI Requirements
- Understand AI concepts; demonstrate use of AI tools (generative AI/predictive analytics/automation) to improve workflows; assess risks/limitations and implement solutions

Salary Range (CA)
- $135,000–$165,000 USD
