Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly and quarterly close processes; ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Manage, coach, and lead 2+ direct reports.
- Own SEC filing sections (10-Q, 10-K), including preparation/review of footnote disclosures.
- Own complex biotech accounting areas: leasing (ASC 842), fixed assets, software capitalization, G&A accruals/operating expenses, prepaids/accruals, and taxes.
- Identify/escalate emerging accounting risks and recommend accounting positions.
- Maintain/enhance SOX-compliant internal controls.
- Coordinate with internal/external auditors and manage audit requests.
- Manage partnerships with FP&A, Tax, Legal, IT, and Operations.
- Identify control gaps and implement remediation; develop accounting policies/procedures/documentation.
- Lead process improvement initiatives; provide mentorship.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
- 7+ years relevant experience (Big 4/similar audit with SEC-registered clients + industry experience).
- Biotech industry experience strongly preferred.
- ERP/finance systems experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa).
- Proficiency: Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in AI-enabled tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini).
AI Requirements:
- Foundational AI concepts; applied experience using AI tools (generative AI, predictive analytics, automation) to improve workflows.
