Position Overview
- The Biological Sample Management Accessioning Specialist II accessions samples and assists in managing samples throughout their lifecycle. Specialists spend most of their time in the lab.
- Working Hours: Tuesday–Saturday, 10:30am–7:00pm
Responsibilities
- Receive and accession samples into the Laboratory Information System (LIMS) used by BSM
- Identify problem samples/shipments and determine whether escalation to another department or BSM leadership is needed
- Enter/upload and ensure accurate, complete sample/project information across multiple systems
- Maintain records of every system transaction for Chain of Custody (COC)
- Ensure appropriate storage and transfer of physical samples throughout the lifecycle
- Perform sample disposition management (disposal, return)
- Check-in/check-out of biological samples to/from BSM
- Transfer samples to departments at appropriate temperatures and designated times
- Work independently with strong process understanding and excellent time management
- Follow document processes, safety protocols, and laboratory regulations (GCLP, CAP, CLIA)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory performing CLIA high complexity testing OR working with clinical samples in a regulated laboratory
- High School Diploma or Associate degree
Preferred Qualifications/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or Chemistry
- Experience in a high-throughput clinical/research/pathology testing laboratory
- Accuracy and timeliness in a fast-paced team environment
- LIMS systems and web-based applications
- HIPAA compliance experience; high integrity
- Customer service experience
- Relevant additional training/courses
Compensation
- Hourly rate: $22.74–$27.78
- Possible: equity grant; bonus eligible
