Role Summary
Director of Data and Analytics Capabilities within the U.S. Market Access (USMA) organization, leading transformative innovation within the Data & Analytics (D&A) Center of Excellence (COE). An individual contributor role that will over time lead a team of data analysts and scientists, shaping AI-powered decision-making across Market Access functions and supporting a leading pharmaceutical pipeline. Focus on designing and executing transformative AI/ML strategies, including Generative AI and Agentic AI frameworks, with domain expertise across core Market Access pillars. Collaborative, with strong executive storytelling to align data-driven insights with strategic business priorities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute data & analytics capabilities enabling scalable insights across in-line brands and pipeline assets aligned with US Market Access priorities.
- Manage direct reports responsible for Data Enablement, Data Governance, and Advanced Analytics.
- Oversee Data Enablement to establish a common data foundation of analytics-ready data products and integrate analytics capabilities across payer accounts, field operations, pricing, chargebacks, rebates, trade & distribution, and third-party data acquisition and vendor management.
- Oversee Data Governance to implement a governance framework ensuring data discipline, integrity, security, and compliance.
- Lead Advanced Analytics capabilities to enable real-time AI-driven insights, self-service analytics, and predictive intelligence to generate pipeline value narratives and support market shaping and launch success.
- Elevate analytics with Advanced ML to attribute 340B vs. non-340B dispenses and detect anomalies; reduce revenue leakage.
- Drive KPIs and continuous performance monitoring in post-deal analytics; inform pre-deal feasibility.
- Foster a data-driven culture through enterprise-wide data literacy and training for Payer Field, Trade & Distribution, and Pricing & Contracting teams.
- Lead change management to embed Gen AI-enhanced analytics into strategic decision-making, including an intelligent knowledge hub with conversational interfaces.
- Collaborate with Digital Technology & Engineering (DTE), GIACO, HEOR, and DSS to create a seamless AI-powered data ecosystem.
- Monitor emerging technologies and best practices to drive continuous innovation in ML, Generative AI, and analytics-driven decision-making.
- Partner with DTE and GIACO to articulate business state and guiding factors (Why behind What).
- Advocate for integrating market access insights across the Vertex enterprise.
Qualifications
- Minimum: Masterβs degree in a quantitative discipline (Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Finance).
- 10+ years in biotech/pharmaceuticals in Managed Markets or biopharma consulting (analytics/management/strategy) post-MBA/PhD.
- 7+ years developing insights for value, access, reimbursement, and contracting strategies.
- Deep D&A expertise with evolving US Market Access strategies, payer account management, and channel dynamics.
- Experience with syndicated Market Access databases (IQVIA, MMIT) and shipment data (852, 867, Integrichain).
- Strong analytical skills with Excel, SQL, SAS, Alteryx, PowerBI; working knowledge of R, Python; data warehouse platforms (Snowflake).
- Strong stakeholder networking and ability to summarize impact to strategic goals.
- Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills to C-suite and external stakeholders.
- Flexible, adaptable, diplomatic, and capable of navigating ambiguity.
- Ability to partner with senior leadership on financial forecasting, analytics, and launch planning.
- Strong storytelling skills translating complex information into concise, impactful messages.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or MBA/MPH plus Masterβs in quantitative discipline.
- Understanding of state/federal policies, government programs affecting market access, and government pricing methodologies.
- 8β10 years of pharmaceutical market access experience with Health Plans, PBMs, Hospital Systems, Specialty Pharmacies, and healthcare policy stakeholders.
- Diverse US product launch experience across therapeutic areas.
