Position Summary:
Director, Access & Reimbursement (DAR) leads and coaches a team of Access & Reimbursement Managers (ARMs) responsible for access and fulfillment across nephrology healthcare provider accounts and execution of the patient access field reimbursement strategy. Ensures providers, patients, and caregivers have information, tools, and resources to start and stay on therapy, and fosters compliant cross-functional communications.

Responsibilities:
- Hire, mentor, develop, and lead a field access & reimbursement team in local geography.
- Enable providers/patients/caregivers with tools and information to initiate and maintain therapy.
- Use KPIs and analytics to optimize field execution.
- Create long/short-term strategic plans and execute tactics in a fast-paced environment.
- Build regional vision and culture; motivate performance; achieve team goals.
- Deliver/manage performance; coach and resolve team issues; ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies.
- Identify and address access/fulfillment obstacles (pharmacy benefit, specialty pharmacy, REMS).
- Develop a regional business plan to optimize patient initiation and pull-through metrics.
- Be product access/reimbursement expert; train the team.
- Ensure cross-functional collaboration with field sales and leadership.
- Create communication cadence across ARMs, hub services, REMS, specialty pharmacy, and payer account team.
- Spend time in the field and on virtual calls for development and issue resolution.
- Build key-account relationships; support FILSPARI onboarding acceptance.
- Train on payer coverage changes; ensure effective customer engagement messages.
- Analyze regional performance and address gaps in ARM capabilities.

Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (related field) required; equivalent education/experience considered.
- 10+ years pharma/biotech or related experience (specialty pharmaceutical, nephrology, rare disease, REMS preferred).
- 5+ years specialty medicines with deep access & reimbursement landscape knowledge.
- 3+ years field reimbursement manager experience.
- 3+ years first-line team leader experience (coaching and people development).

Additional Skills/Experience:
- Cross-functional leadership in training/access marketing/operations/payer projects.
- Managing access complexities for new-to-market medications.
- Specialty pharmacy product experience.
- Relationship-building with HCPs, office staff, sales team, and hub counterparts.
- Knowledge of commercial and government reimbursement (e.g., Medicare Part D, VA).
- Experience educating on benefit verification, prior authorization, appeals, denials, letters of medical necessity, and pre-determination.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong virtual issue resolution/case management capability.
- Organization, multitasking, and strong written/verbal communication.
- Prior line management; complex project planning (timelines, budgets, critical paths).
- Flexibility to adapt project plans/strategies.
- Field-based; live within region/immediate adjacency with major airport access.
- Valid driver’s license; reliable vehicle.
- Travel up to 50% (predominantly within region); must perform face-to-face and meet credentialing requirements.

Compensation:
- Target base pay range: $189,000–$246,000.
