2026 Statistics Intern (PhD)

Role Summary

The Statistics Intern (PhD) will join the Statistical Sciences (Stats) organization within AbbVie's Data & Statistical Sciences (DSS) to support data-driven statistical analyses across clinical development. You will conduct research on statistical topics such as deep learning, historical data borrowing, missing data imputation, and survival analysis, and assist with other projects as needed. At internship conclusion, you will present project results and learnings to department leadership and the broader Stats organization. Interns will be located at one of AbbVie's main US campuses: North Chicago, Bay Area, Irvine, or Florham Park.

Responsibilities

• Gain knowledge about the pharmaceutical industry and support other Stats projects as needed.
• Conduct research on statistical topics, including but not limited to deep learning, historical data borrowing, missing data imputation, and survival analysis.
• Present project results and learnings to department leadership and the broader Stats organization at the conclusion of the internship.

Qualifications

• Required: Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PhD in statistics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, or other closely related field.
• Required: Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship.
• Required: Must have completed at least two full years of PhD study prior to the start of the internship.
• Required: Track record of accomplishment.
• Preferred: Expected graduation date between December 2026 – June 2027.
