Position Summary
- The Vice President, Hips and Knees R&D is accountable for setting and executing the R&D vision and strategy for DePuy Synthes’ hips and knees procedural solutions, including integration with digital, robotics, and biologics portfolios.
- Own the end-to-end new product development lifecycle—from concept through launch and post-market support.
- Lead globally distributed R&D teams and serve on the cross-functional Joints platform leadership team.

You Will Be Responsible For
- Enterprise-aligned R&D Vision & Strategy
- Define and communicate the hips and knees R&D vision and strategy aligned with business priorities and enterprise R&D objectives.
- Partner with DPS stakeholders to shape technology/procedural integration direction, scenario planning, and long-term innovation strategies.
- Balance and manage R&D horizons and allocate resources to optimize total R&D impact.
- Strategy Execution & Delivery
- Provide oversight/influence to ensure execution of strategy with accountability for speed, quality, customer satisfaction, and profitable growth.
- Drive cross-portfolio integration to maximize reuse of platforms, technologies, and capabilities.
- Customer and Outcome-Driven Innovation
- Partner with customers and business leaders to develop/refine an innovation roadmap with differentiated value across the musculoskeletal care continuum.
- R&D Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Own R&D performance against DPS value creation metrics.
- Share best practices and contribute to enterprise-wide continuous improvement to strengthen R&D speed, effectiveness, and competitiveness.
- Leadership & Governance
- Represent hips and knees R&D on enterprise forums and governance bodies; advocate for decisions optimizing total DPS R&D and enterprise performance.
- Customer & Business Orientation
- Maintain relationships with surgeon KOLs and emerging customer segments to inform innovation priorities and adoption.
- Talent, Culture & Organizational Effectiveness
- Lead talent/organizational strategy aligned to near-term execution and long-term enterprise R&D goals.
- Develop leaders demonstrating enterprise thinking, accountability, trust, and relentless improvement.

Required Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 15 years in R&D; at least 3 years in hips and knees implant systems R&D.
- 10+ years as a global R&D leader with a track record of delivering results in challenging business environments.
- Demonstrated R&D/Platform leadership experience in large-scale global organizations.
- 10+ years’ experience in organizational and talent development.
- Expert at achieving results in an orthopedic division/company via influence and cross-franchise/enterprise collaboration.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills; ability to build relationships with internal/external customers and regulatory agencies.
- Proven product launch execution experience with Design to Excellence and Design to Value principles; measurable track record of value creation through new innovations.
- Ability to shape/lead the product portfolio and enrich the innovation pipeline.
- Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, MS engineering, or advanced degree.
- Preferred study: Mechanical / Systems / Biomedical Engineering.
- PMA / Class III Medical Devices experience.

Base Pay Range (if considered part of the posting)
- $218,000.00 - $401,350.00
