This role serves as the company’s scientific and strategic leader in epilepsy, driving execution and excellence across the epilepsy portfolio and partnering with multiple functions to shape the epilepsy pipeline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and shape epilepsy clinical development strategy aligned with portfolio, regulatory expectations, and unmet needs.
- Define clinical endpoints, trial designs, and patient populations.
- Integrate scientific insights, literature, and competitive intelligence into actionable program strategies.
- Steward epilepsy programs through governance; execute multiple programs to budget and timeline.
- Accountable R&D leader for the Jazz Scientific Advisory Board in Epilepsy.
- Engage academic experts; represent the company at congresses/symposia and regulatory interactions as an epilepsy clinical expert.
- Drive collaborative research with academic institutions and external partners; oversee collaborative research aligned to priorities.
- Lead translational science: bridge preclinical discoveries to clinical development; translate biomarkers into hypotheses/endpoints; partner with nonclinical teams.
- Provide enterprise R&D leadership at epilepsy forums; influence Executive Committee/Board with data-rich presentations.
- Embed patient/caregiver perspectives and partner with advocacy organizations to inform trial design and endpoints; ensure attention to diversity, access, and real-world priorities.
- Lead and mentor global teams.
Required/Preferred Qualifications:
- MD or PhD with specialization in Epilepsy; Board Certification in Neurology or subspecialties.
- 10+ years drug development experience in academia and pharma.
- National/international recognition as academic epileptologist and/or epilepsy drug developer.
- Significant experience in clinical research/trial leadership and investigator-initiated studies.
- Strong track record: publications, conference presentations, scientific leadership.
Skills:
- Executive presence; executive-level communication.
- Lead cross-functional teams; leverage internal/external partnerships.
- Strong organizational/time management; excellent verbal/written communication.
- Travel 10–20%.
