Scientific & Clinical Accountability for the R&D Epilepsy Portfolio
- Develop epilepsy clinical development strategy aligned with portfolio, regulatory expectations, and unmet needs.
- Define clinical endpoints, trial designs, and patient populations.
- Integrate scientific insights, literature, and competitive intelligence into actionable plans.
- Steward programs through governance; align budget and timelines.
- Execute multiple epilepsy programs according to budget and timeline.

External Engagement & Thought Leadership
- Accountable R&D leader for the Jazz Scientific Advisory Board in Epilepsy.
- Serve as external scientific voice; build trusted relationships with epilepsy experts/stakeholders.
- Engage academic epileptologists to inform strategy, evidence generation, and trial design.
- Represent the company at congresses/symposia and in regulatory interactions.

Research Collaboration & Innovation
- Drive collaborative research with academic institutions and external partners.
- Oversee collaborative research aligned with strategic priorities.
- Identify emerging scientific opportunities and innovative technologies.

Translational Science Leadership
- Bridge preclinical discoveries and clinical development.
- Translate mechanistic insights/biomarkers into clinical hypotheses, endpoints, decision frameworks.
- Partner with nonclinical teams on target validation and translational strategies.

People Leadership
- Manage and develop high-performing global teams; mentor and build leadership capability.
- Foster a learning culture with innovation and operational excellence.

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses
- MD or PhD specializing in Epilepsy.
- Board Certification in Neurology (or subspecialties).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 10+ years drug development experience in academia and pharma.
- National/international recognition as an academic epileptologist and/or epilepsy drug developer.
- Proven clinical research/trial leadership and investigator-initiated study experience.
- Strong record of publications, conference presentations, and scientific leadership.
- Established network across academic centers, trial sites, and epilepsy organizations.
- Executive presence; strong verbal/written communication; cross-functional leadership.
- Ability to travel 10–20%.
