The Head of Corporate Strategy (VP1) is responsible for shaping and driving the long-term strategic direction of Takeda, translating scientific innovation, commercial excellence, and disciplined investment decisions into meaningful patient impact.

Reporting to the Head of Strategy & Portfolio Development, partners with the CEO, Executive Team, and Board to define enterprise priorities, allocate capital, and position the company for sustainable growth and competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead development of long-term corporate strategy across therapeutic areas and geographies
- Translate strategy into actionable, measurable plans aligned with financial and operational goals
- Advise on annual and multi-year strategic planning across business units and therapeutic areas
- Advise CEO and Executive Team on critical strategic decisions and trade-offs
- Drive portfolio prioritization across R&D, commercial, and lifecycle management investments
- Partner with R&D and Commercial leadership to optimize pipeline value and risk balance
- Ensure business development and capital allocation align with long-term enterprise value creation
- Monitor and integrate global biopharma trends, competition, and policy/regulatory developments
- Anticipate disruptions and proactively mitigate risk/seize opportunities

Qualifications & Capabilities:
- 15+ years strategy/consulting experience in pharmaceutical/biotech
- Proven track record in corporate strategy, portfolio management and/or business development
- Experience leading in a global, matrixed organization
- BA/BS required; MBA/PhD/MD or equivalent strongly preferred
- Ability to synthesize complex data into clear strategic direction
- Credibility to advise and challenge executives and the Board
- Deep understanding of valuation, capital allocation, and ROI-driven decision-making
- Strong grasp of global biopharma trends, regulatory environments, and innovation dynamics
- Ability to translate strategy into measurable outcomes; leverage AI/technology to accelerate results
- Skilled at leading and influencing across functions, cultures, and geographies
- Based in Cambridge, MA (hybrid); travel ~15% globally
