Primary Responsibilities
- Build, develop, and lead therapeutic area (TA) dedicated teams (AVP, Executive Directors, global/regional directors, associate directors).
- Ensure annual scientific and medical plans guide TA scientific exchange for all R&D GMSA staff globally; manage approvals with SVP R&D GMSA and SVP Global Clinical Development.
- Align staffing and R&D GMSA budgets; manage budget appropriately.
- Create cross-functional scientific/medical and research teams to enable scientific value creation and aligned scientific exchange execution.
- Contribute to commercialization strategies and global clinical development plans with Global Clinical Development and Commercial management.
- Contribute to CORE portfolio via recommendations and leading local data generation following CORE governance.
- Serve as (or assign AVP as) Medical Head in alliances with partner companies.
- Ensure TA teams understand how medical systems/standards of care change to accept and implement new innovation.
- Infuse company decisions (Clinical Development or Commercial) with actionable medical insights from countries/regions.
- Lead comprehensive global/regional stakeholder engagement plan (phase 2b to end of life cycle) and complementary expert input events.
- Develop team contributions to Product Development sub-teams (Value Evidence, Clinical, Commercial, Publications, Label).
- Organize management reviews; oversee global/regional symposia and educational meetings.
- Support investigator-initiated study program and business development assessments.
- Lead talent review and succession/action plans for leadership roles.

Education
- M.D. and recognized scientific expertise.

Required Experience and Skills
- Extensive Medical Affairs or Clinical Development experience.
- Ability to chart direction and build successful teams.
- Gravitas with senior management; track record contributing to company decisions.
- Collaborate/influence in a matrix environment.
- Managed resourcing, budgeting, and budget prioritization.

Preferred Experience and Skills
- 15+ years global or US Medical Affairs or global clinical development experience.
- Customer expertise, including scientific leadership with key stakeholders (payers, public groups, government officials, medical organizations).
