Virus Tech 1 (Virus Team) — Omaha, NE
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory procedures in an aseptic environment per SOPs and Outlines of Production.
- Prepare media for cell/virus growth using calibrated equipment.
- Conduct cell passages in roller bottles to support virus culture production.
- Perform virus antigen production: inoculation, harvest, and inactivation.
- Complete batch records and required documentation accurately.
- Check/dispose expired reagents per approved procedures.
- Maintain lab cleanliness, supplies, and document cleaning; perform equipment monitoring/cleaning per SOP.
- Follow all safety guidelines; perform environmental monitoring as required.
- Enter data accurately and timely.
- Support SOP preparation and training; manage individual schedule/assigned lab work.
- Recommend equipment/process improvements for efficiency and safety.
Required/Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred: Bachelor’s in a scientific discipline; 1+ year in a scientific field.
- Minimum: Associate’s in a scientific discipline; 1+ year in a scientific field.
Skills/Requirements
- Time management; ability to handle multiple priorities; strong written/verbal communication; effective teamwork.
- Ability to calculate media requirements, verify equipment availability, schedule tasks efficiently, and determine optimal harvest/growth.
- Ability to read/analyze English; proficient documentation; basic math; scientific notation/metric preferred; Microsoft Excel preferred.
- Physical demands: standing/bending/repetitive motions; lift up to 30 lbs; occasional maneuver carts up to 110 lbs; good eyesight/hand-eye coordination.
- Aseptic area requiring aseptic apparel (e.g., Tyvek suit/sterile gown) and respirator may be required.
Work Schedule
- Monday–Friday (standard work hours); may require evening/weekend/holiday scheduling.
