Role Summary

The Sales Operations Data Manager is a proactive leader and subject matter expert in Subnational Field Sales data within the commercial organization. This role owns strategic initiatives to deliver accurate, comprehensive, and actionable Subnational data to Field Sales and Sales Operations teams, continually enhancing data quality and breadth to empower business strategy execution. With a vision for creating customized data solutions and systems, the manager drives the integration of new and/or improved data assets (e.g. Sampling, payer, and specialty data) into reporting and analytics ecosystems. By leading account investigations, gap analyses, and data enhancements, the manager ensures agile, responsive support for evolving Sales Operation’s needs, enabling the organization to leverage data for strategic decision-making and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead data strategy for non-retail and other sales operations initiatives.
  • Collaborate with analytics teams (sales operations, medical, payer, digital) to inform and educate on data strategy.
  • Guide effective data use for field execution and incentive compensation, including business rules, tracking systems, analyses, and goal setting.
  • Partner with business teams to determine KPIs, metrics, and report design for subnational data sets.
  • Communicate complex data and solutions to stakeholders with varying levels of data acumen.

Data Operations & Quality

  • Oversee Sales Operations data management, ensuring data quality, monitoring, and reporting standards.
  • Collaborate with data owners and engineering teams to maintain KPI inventories and subnational data sources to support dashboard reporting capabilities.
  • Implement data quality monitoring and remediation frameworks for completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Recommend new approaches to achieve operational effectiveness and efficiency and address gaps brought to Data Strategy & Operations by Sales Operations partners
  • Create SOPs and maintain appropriate systems, databases, and records.
  • Conduct periodic KPI reviews to adjust definitions, thresholds, and business rules.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for data solutions and analyses, ensuring timely, high-quality, and complete data.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Vendor Management

  • Act as primary liaison for data vendors, analytics partners, and third-party platforms.
  • Oversee SLAs, data quality, and contract renewals in coordination with procurement and legal.
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial, Market Access, and Patient Access teams for consistent reporting delivery.
  • Partner with internal teams to align on data architecture, business rules, and reporting requirements.

Sales Data Process Optimization & Automation

  • Simplify and automate sales operations processes where identified and applicable for greater efficiency and quality assurance.
  • Use creativity and agility to identify and utilize the best available data to solve problems systematically, reducing manual work wherever possible.
  • Document and improve sales data use processes, recommending enhancements and supporting implementation.
  • Train/support Sales Operations colleagues on reporting tools and processes

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business OR Data Analytics OR Computer Science OR Life Sciences

Qualifications

  • Required: 5 plus years of experience in commercial data operations OR analytics AND/OR business intelligence within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Required: Experience using analytics tools like SQL, Power BI, Tableau and Excel.
  • Required: Experience cross-functional reporting initiatives and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Required: Experience translating technical outputs into actionable insights for non-technical audiences using data storytelling skills
  • Preferred: Strong analytical ability, leadership, partnering, business acumen, communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Preferred: Experience with and understanding of pharmaceutical data sources, especially IQVIA data assets.
  • Preferred: Specialty Pharmacy data knowledge a plus.
  • Preferred: Analytical model development and database manipulation experience.
  • Preferred: Experience delivering results and working in a highly matrixed organization, collaborating across multiple stakeholders.
  • Preferred: Strategic mindset, analytical thinking, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, quantitative skills, communication skills, and project management.
  • Preferred: Creative problem solving and nuanced decision-making skills.
