Role Summary

The Regional Medical Value & Outcomes Liaison (MVOL) serves as the accountable medical lead for population-based decision makers at the C&D-suite level within priority accounts focused on Healthcare Delivery Networks & Systems, ensuring their clinical conviction and implementation needs for ViiV Long-Acting Injectables are realized. This role works in close collaboration with the ViiV Corporate Accounts Team (VCAT) and ViiV Corporate Accounts Reimbursement Team (VCART) to provide a seamless customer experience through impactful and timely value engagements. The MVOL will identify and appropriately engage medical influencers/decision makers within a sophisticated customer base to establish relationships and inform access, management, and purchase-based decisions, assist with pipeline planning/surveillance, represent VIIV Medical capabilities/needs and return actionable medical voice of the customer. The MVOL will be responsible for forging medical partnerships centered around shared priorities and, in alignment with strategic account plans, result in the implementation of transformational initiatives that drive mutual value for the healthcare system and ViiV. Location includes Pacific Northwest and Southern California (Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego); travel is expected.

Responsibilities

  • External:
    • Develop a scientific account plan and lead all external medical engagements with aligned accounts such as Health Systems/Integrated Delivery Networks, group purchasing organizations, academic medical centers, group practices, and other relevant stakeholders to articulate the value of VIIV medicines across all prioritized disease areas (including pipeline) in accordance with VIIV policies and procedures.
    • During external engagements, display confidence and executive presence, critical through partnership and collaborative ideation.
    • Build relationships with account-based C&D-suite customers providing transparent and timely clinical, economic, and humanistic data to inform access, management, and purchase-based decisions.
    • Act with urgency and uphold commitments made to customers.
    • Appropriately engage customers on near-term pipeline assets assessing their priorities and evidence needs as well as supporting their planning, budget, and/or reimbursement decisions for future access.
    • Gather medical voice of the customer to support generation of key customer insights that help inform and shape our access and value evidence strategy.
    • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the US Healthcare Environment (Healthcare Reform, Quality, Population Health priorities, the evolving Healthcare Informatics Technology (HIT) landscape (EHR, CER, Patient-centered research) and how changes are impacting PBDMs and VIIV HEALTHCARE research needs.
    • Build and maintain product, disease state, pathways and health system environment and reimbursement expertise as required by scope of therapeutic area responsibility.
    • Assess collaborative capabilities and interests including RWE; identify/facilitate opportunities for partnership where applicable.
    • Leverage cross-functional medical matrix partners and internal R&D resources when needed to meet the needs of PBDMs for deep clinical, therapeutic, or program implementation expertise.
  • Internal:
    • Demonstrate strong leadership through influence, consensus-building across teams and fostering collaboration around customer solutions.
    • Work closely with the VCAT and VCART teams to align on customer engagement strategy, etc. to appropriately engage medical influencers/decision makers within these customers.
    • Partner with other relevant US Medical team members in conceptualizing and implementing fit-for-purpose field medical account planning and engagement materials.
    • Ensure accountability across medical matrix to maintain momentum with customers.
    • Internal connection to US Medical and RWE research teams (e.g., Health Outcomes, Epidemiology, Implementation Sciences) to inform the development of asset strategic plans.
    • Participate in process/change/capability initiatives for the MVOL and broader cross-functional VIIV matrix teams as needed.
    • Contribute to cultivating a strong, collaborative, and inclusive team culture within both the MVOL team and the broader cross-functional VIIV matrix teams.

Qualifications

  • Required: PharmD or PhD or medical degree
  • Required: 2+ years’ experience in field-based medical role such as medical affairs, health systems engagement, or population-based decision-maker interactions or 5+ years’ experience in a health system
  • Required: This is a field-based position, ability to travel (including overnight trips) 50%+ of the time.
  • Required: Must be commutable to a major airport
  • Required: Experience working cross-functionally in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Preferred: Strong command of scientific and health outcomes/economic information.
  • Preferred: Ability to ideate strategically, influence decision makers, and develop high-impact relationships with customers and internal teams.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated customer-focus, problem solving abilities and strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Preferred: Possesses solid business acumen and understanding of health system dynamics; Direct experience in a payer, health system, and/or relevant managed care environment is strongly desired.
  • Preferred: Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work independently and effectively across functional teams.
  • Preferred: Excellent analytical, strategic thinking and communication skills.
