Role Summary

Director, Patient Access and Affordability Programs is responsible for the strategy, development, and management of initiatives that ensure access and affordability for patients living with HIV or those who could benefit from HIV prevention. This role will focus on enabling patients to start prescribed treatments quickly while balancing brand performance and organizational objectives. The role involves overseeing the design, implementation, and ongoing management of patient affordability programs in collaboration with third-party partners. The position is based at ViiV's US headquarters in Durham, NC (RTP Area) and may be eligible for a domestic relocation package.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement Patient Affordability Solutions: Create and execute programs (e.g., Copay Savings) and strategies that align with brand objectives and enhance patient access.
  • Vendor Management and Compliance: Oversee multiple vendors, ensuring adherence to business rules, service-level agreements, and contractual requirements while maintaining full compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Performance Monitoring and Market Insights: Track and analyze key performance indicators, program utilization trends, and costs to identify improvements and provide actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Competitive Analysis and Strategy Development: Conduct market analysis to evaluate evolving trends and recommend enhancements to patient affordability programs and pipeline product strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Market Access, ViiVConnect, Legal, Compliance, and Brand Marketing teams to align patient access tactics, promotional materials, and program messaging.
  • Program Optimization: Enhance financial accessibility programs and technology, leveraging vendor insights and modeling tools to improve program quality and meet customer needs.
  • Resource Development and Training: Coordinate with matrix partners to create training and resources that ensure consistent program execution and understanding across stakeholders.
  • Leadership Briefings: Prepare and present materials on affordability program performance, impact on gross-to-net, and customer outcomes for leadership teams.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelorโ€™s Degree
  • Required: 7+ years of pharmaceutical access and affordability industry experience, primarily in healthcare, including working with co-pay programs, PBMs, patient access, or in a similar role for the life sciences industry.
  • Required: 5+ yearsโ€™ experience designing and managing patient access and affordability programs and managing risks by working with corporate leadership, brand teams, and other key groups.
  • Preferred: Education and Expertise: MBA or advanced degree with in-depth knowledge of the healthcare, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industries, including legal and regulatory requirements for patient services and financial programs.
  • Preferred: Vendor and Project Management: Proven experience managing vendors, patient/provider support hubs, and services in compliance with regulations, alongside demonstrated success managing multiple complex projects under pressure.
  • Preferred: Analytical and Financial Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative abilities, including expertise in constructing complex financial models and interpreting data to inform strategy and decision-making.
  • Preferred: Communication and Collaboration: Exceptional oral and written communication, presentation, and advocacy skills, with the ability to convey complex information effectively and build trust with diverse stakeholders.
  • Preferred: Organizational and Leadership Skills: Proven ability to work within a complex matrix organization, manage competing priorities, and collaborate across teams with attention to detail and integrity.
