Associate Director of Pipeline Project Management (Discovery & Early Development)

In this role you will:
- Facilitate and/or contribute to asset and evidence strategy; lead development of the integrated project plan aligned to therapeutic area strategy, prioritization, and pipeline objectives.
- Own a single integrated plan with schedules and budgets based on dependencies and assumptions.
- Lead options planning; generate recommendations, alternatives, and trade-offs to optimize project strategy.
- Prepare teams for governance decisions; own schedule, risk, and budget inputs.
- Identify opportunities to accelerate milestones by challenging constraints impacting critical/near-critical path.
- Orchestrate seamless handoffs via proactive monitoring, risk management, cross-functional issue management, and timely escalation.
- Ensure rigor, consistency, and compliance in systems to drive timely, high-quality data and reporting.
- Build trusting relationships to drive transparency and collaboration.
- Lead regular project meetings using consistent best practices for agendas, actions, minutes, and documentation.
- Establish ways of working for communication, decisions, and conflict resolution.
- Work on any assignment as directed.

Core responsibilities:
- Act as COO of the asset; drive efficient operation of project teams including plans, priorities, budget, and risk management without compromising quality or safety.
- Apply holistic pharmaceutical development knowledge; empower teams to manage uncertainty and accelerate critical milestones.
- Continuously assess progress and clear focus on the critical path.
- Build high-performance teams; share learnings and proven practices.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences/technical discipline (drug discovery & development, biology, biochemistry, immunology, pharmacology, or toxicology).
- 5+ years in pharmaceutical drug discovery/pre-clinical and/or early-phase development project management.
- Experience delivering projects within time/cost/quality; creating and reporting integrated project plans (critical path, milestones, budgets, resource forecasts, risk).
- Experience leading/integrating matrix teams; stakeholder and executive-level governance briefing experience.
- Cross-functional matrix experience; ability to present to executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong communication; knowledge of GSK/ViiV processes.
- Infectious disease (HIV and/or Global Health) experience; experience within HIV/Global Health franchise.
- Advanced degree and/or MBA.
- Project management training/certification (e.g., PMP).
- Familiarity with AI tools for project management.
