Responsibilities:
- Lead development and evolution of the long-term strategic plan in partnership with the CBO, executive leadership, and Board of Directors.
- Adapt corporate strategy based on emerging clinical data, market dynamics, and competitive landscape shifts.
- Conceptualize and create board materials for quarterly board meetings and strategic offsites.
- Drive scenario planning and options analysis to inform critical business decisions.
- Contribute to investor communications and narratives supporting company growth.
- Design and manage strategic planning cycles, leadership meetings, and governance forums to track priorities and execution.
- Partner with CBO and executive leadership to shape long-term portfolio strategy, including diversification pathways under different capital/partnership/market scenarios.
- Define portfolio strategy frameworks and valuation methodologies (NPV analysis, risk-adjusted valuations, scenario modeling).
- Develop analytical frameworks and decision-making tools (including AI/ML) to improve strategic maturity and alignment.
- Conduct portfolio-level analysis to identify gaps, optimize risk profile, and maximize financial returns; support business development target/deal thesis development.
- Establish portfolio metrics, KPIs, and measurement frameworks.
- Engage external advisors, consultants, and KOLs to inform assumptions.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS with 20+ years, MS/MBA with 18+ years, or PhD with 15+ years of progressive pharmaceutical/life sciences experience in senior leadership.
- Experience in infectious disease and/or oncology highly preferred.
- Proven track record in corporate strategy development, portfolio management, and strategic execution.
- Biopharma strategy consulting experience preferred (top management consulting firm).
- Experience leading integrated strategy across clinical-stage programs (portfolio prioritization, development planning, commercial positioning).
- Expertise in financial modeling and valuation (DCF, NPV, risk-adjusted valuations).
- Experience delivering strategic initiatives through governance processes and managing ambiguity.
Location/Work: San Francisco headquarters; at least 3 days/week in office.
Benefits/Pay: Expected salary range $300,000β$350,000/year; compensation includes bonus and equity plus benefits.
