Position Summary
The Vice President of Regional Clinical Operations (RCO) is accountable for end-to-end execution of clinical trials across the portfolioโfrom feasibility and site selection through study start-up and patient enrollment. Provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure reliable delivery, quality, and inspection readiness across regions, countries, and individual trials.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for Regional Clinical Operations to ensure consistent, high-quality clinical trial execution across geographies and therapeutic areas
- Lead and develop a large, global clinical operations organization; foster accountability, engagement, and performance culture
- Shape and evolve regional operating models, processes, and systems to support Global Development
- Develop operations strategy emphasizing scalability, efficiency, and inspection readiness
- Optimize geographic allocation of internal resources and external partnerships to balance speed, quality, cost, and risk
- Oversee proactive site management and monitoring to ensure data integrity, patient safety, and regulatory compliance
- Strengthen BMS as a preferred sponsor through effective site engagement and addressing operational pain points
- Demonstrate enterprise leadership and build productive cross-organization relationships
- Support inspection preparation and sponsor/site activities by understanding regional regulatory environments
Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced degree preferred; minimum 15 years of relevant industry experience
- Proven expertise in global clinical trial execution and management
- Expert in ICH/GCP principles
- Experience managing CRO partnerships
- Technical credibility with global development and business partners
- Business acumen; ability to manage significant budgets/resources
- Experience interacting with International Health Authorities
- Proven leadership of a large global organization; strong stakeholder management
