Vice President, Ophthalmology Medical Affairs

Responsibilities:
- Provide deep medical and scientific expertise on medical affairs, launch, and lifecycle strategies as a key member of the ophthalmology core team.
- Lead the full spectrum of Medical Affairs functions to develop and implement the Global medical strategy, including:
- Medical Affairs Operations: communication, medical education, advisory management, and patient advocacy.
- Medical Science Liaison: engagement with practicing physicians, key opinion leaders, academic physicians, and other healthcare providers delivering care to targeted patient populations.
- Partner on market access strategies to support pricing, reimbursement, and access.
- Establish strategic partnerships with internal leaders in clinical development, regulatory affairs, safety, operations, research, and commercial.
- Extend and grow external relationships with the expert community to stay current on disease areas, standards of practice, and evolving unmet medical need.
- Strengthen relationships with patients and patient advocacy groups for both clinical trials and commercial planning.
- Represent the organization and present data at advisory boards, clinical investigator meetings, congresses, symposia, and other scientific forums.
- Stay at the forefront of the relevant science and competitive landscape.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, and regulatory authorities to ensure proper and ethical interactions with external stakeholders.

Education, Experience, and Skills
Required:
- Advanced degree (MD, PhD, or PharmD) preferred.
- 15+ years Medical Affairs experience in biopharma.
- Prior experience in product launch or ophthalmology launches.
- Established network and skill in engaging in scientific exchange with the external medical community.
- Proven ability to lead/manage others in a multi-functional matrix environment.
- Experience with global/regional/local medical practice and healthcare ecosystems.
- Knowledge of GCP, regional regulations/guidelines, and applicable international regulatory requirements.
- Finance/budgeting and resource management experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for complex medical/clinical concepts.
- Demonstrated problem-solving with sound judgment.
- Ensures representation of the patient perspective (β€œvoice of patient”).

Salary Range: $354,200 - $377,000

Location: Brisbane, California; preference for candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area.
