Role Summary

Vice President, Global Program Leader - Oncology, Solid Tumors. Fully dedicated to overarching Global Program(s), defining asset strategy and leading all development and lifecycle management activities from discovery to the marketplace. Acts as the primary cross-functional leader responsible for delivering asset value and global access, in alignment with the company’s Patient-Trust-Reputation-Business principles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Global Program in setting vision, strategy, goals, priorities, and long-term plans; align cross-functional and cross-divisional goals with business needs.
  • Provide strategic, process, and operational leadership to multiple Global Program Teams (GPTs) and Takeda functions for successful delivery from discovery to commercialization and lifecycle management.
  • Link GPT sub-teams to execute according to the Enterprise GPT Playbook; ensure transparency of program-related activities.
  • Provide leadership and support to TAU/Franchise Leaders and Sub-team leaders to set the vision and direction for the Therapeutic Area Unit; prioritize all project aspects within a global program.
  • Report on project progress, plans, changes, critical paths, risks, and decisions to executive management and governance committees.
  • Lead opportunities evaluation and feasibility studies for potential global programs; promote organizational reputation by engaging internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple assets depending on size and stage; demonstrate Enterprise GPT operating model through defined job attributes.
  • May lead key business initiatives and provide overall support for feasibility studies on potential global programs.

Qualifications

  • Required: Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) or MBA; minimum of 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry with knowledge of R&D and commercial operations; minimum 10 years of interdisciplinary global experience with complex projects, including strategy, execution, and matrix team management.
  • Preferred: Advanced degree in science or business; broad business/enterprise orientation; experience managing multiple NME global approvals; passion for developing others into future leaders.

Additional Requirements

  • Travel: Willingness to travel to various meetings or client sites, including overnight trips; some international travel may be required. Approximately 20-25% travel.
