Job Title
Vice President, Gene Editing Core
Job Summary
Leads a highly cross-functional team applying genomic and molecular biology tools to advance genome editing therapies. Oversees planning, execution, and delivery of projects for early R&D studies, including assay/reagent development to characterize gene editing outcomes (on/off-target and structural variants), platform improvements, and novel nuclease advancement. Develops and leads genomics and RNA labs; manages gene editing analysis technologies/platforms and component production (sgRNA, mRNA). Drives growth/success of the team, manages external collaborations, and ensures high-quality results.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Strategic planning and leadership to support gene-editing therapy research
- Collaborate to advance novel nucleases, insertion strategies, new/delivery technologies, and unintended change assessment assays
- Support screening with guide RNA, messenger RNA, delivery optimization, and nuclease advancement
- Oversee NGS production: AMP-seq, off-target discovery/confirmation, structural variant analysis
- Collaborate on assay transfer, validation, and scale-up with Pre-Clinical NGS
- Partner with computational biology/software/automation for analysis, data capture, and workflow optimization
- Evaluate/adopt new genomics technologies and platforms
- Oversee Genomics Core budget/resource allocation and equipment purchases
- Ensure documentation, sample tracking, compliance, data management, and biosafety
- Communicate with users; coordinate external consultants/collaborators
- Work with clinical/regulatory/product teams to integrate insights into workflows
- Represent program teams with gene editing method expertise for candidate nomination and regulatory filing
- Foster collaboration/innovation; manage employee performance per policy
Skills/Abilities
- Extensive genomics experience (sequencing tech, genomic data analysis)
- Familiarity with genomic research/data management regulations/standards
- Experience with NGS, ddPCR, single-cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics
- Strong experimental design and bioinformatics
- Leadership/management; manages multiple projects and laboratory operations
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration
- Regulatory knowledge; strong problem-solving/analytical skills; works in fast-paced environment
Education/Experience
- PhD or equivalent in molecular biology, biochemistry, or genomics
- PhD: 8+ years related experience; Master’s/Bachelor’s: 10+ years related experience
- 7+ years directly managing people
