Job Summary
- Lead a cross-functional Gene Editing Core applying genomic and molecular biology tools to advance genome editing therapies.
- Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of early R&D projects.
- Develop assays/reagents to characterize gene editing outcomes (on/off-targets and structural variants) and support platform improvements and novel nuclease advancement.
- Build and lead state-of-the-art genomics and RNA labs; manage gene editing analysis technologies/platforms and component production (sgRNA, mRNA).
- Drive team growth, collaboration, innovation, external collaborations, and delivery of high-quality results.
- Assess and bring in new genomics technologies.
Responsibilities
- Create and lead genomics innovation vision; collaborate across platform and delivery teams.
- Support screening (gRNA, mRNA, delivery optimization) and novel nuclease advancement.
- Oversee NGS production (AMP-seq, off-target discovery/confirmation, structural variant analysis) and assay transfer/validation/scale-up.
- Partner with computational biology/software/automation on analysis, data capture, and workflow optimization.
- Oversee Genomics Core budget/resource allocation and ensure documentation, sample tracking, compliance, and biosafety.
- Provide guidance to users; integrate insights with clinical/regulatory/product teams; represent program teams with gene editing method expertise.
Supervision/Management
- Provide strategic direction to teams; talent acquisition, training, staffing, coaching/mentoring, performance metrics.
Qualifications/Skills
- PhD (molecular biology/biochemistry/genomics) or equivalent.
- Experience: PhD 8+ years (Master/Bachelor 10+ years) relevant; 7+ years directly managing people.
- Genomics expertise (sequencing and genomic data analysis); NGS/ddPCR/single-cell/spatial transcriptomics.
- Experimental design + bioinformatics; leadership; communication; regulatory familiarity; problem-solving.
Compensation
- Base salary expected: $327,100β$399,900/year; performance-based annual cash bonus; new-hire equity grant; eligibility for annual equity awards.
