Vice President, Emerging Technologies API / Site Leader, Petersburg, VA

Role Summary

Vice President, Emerging Technologies API / Site Leader, Petersburg, VA — Lead and manage the Emerging Technologies (ET) / Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) production site in Petersburg, VA to meet or exceed short- and long-term objectives for production, quality, and financial results, ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with Novo Nordisk Way of Management.

Responsibilities

• Establish and drive vision and strategic operational plan for ET API US and NNPILP in alignment with strategic objectives of the company
• Champion strategic development of site business plans and initiate/lead related Investment / Capital Improvement Projects
• Manage risk with a focus on minimizing risks for staff, operations, and projects
• Oversee site to maximize utilization of employees, equipment, and materials within quality standards
• Conduct strategic planning, set objectives, and develop performance measures to drive site performance
• Plan, develop, and manage annual expense and capital budgets
• Interact with executive levels, presenting information and proposals to top management, board of directors, and public forums
• Maintain critical internal communications with Denmark headquarters to translate product supply objectives into goals and timetables
• Drive operational excellence using Lean to increase speed and reduce waste; manage value improvement programs
• Recommend operations policies and programs; approve plant policies
• Interact with other NN groups to support global product requirements
• Support other departments to meet quality and business objectives
• Maintain and ensure good housekeeping of machinery, equipment, and facilities per QSR/cGMP and global regulatory requirements
• Foster a culture of compliance with local, state, and national environmental, health, and safety regulations
• Ensure activities comply with company policies and global regulatory requirements
• Drive social responsibility and engagement in the community
• Perform duties in line with healthcare laws, regulations, and industry codes
• Incorporate Novo Nordisk Way and 10 Essentials in all activities
• Recruit, hire, and develop a world-class workforce and leadership team
• Follow safety and environmental requirements in performance of duties
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor‚Äôs degree in engineering, science, supply chain management or similar field; Master‚Äôs degree preferred
• Minimum of ten (10) years‚Äô experience in a senior management role in biotech/pharmaceutical manufacturing
• Proven process improvement and problem-solving skills; knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma
• Working knowledge of FDA regulations relevant to the organization
• Proficient with MS Office software
• Strong written, verbal, and public speaking skills in English
• Mentoring/development, process confirmation, change management, planning/organizing, and execution skills
• Ability to review complex organizational plans and provide direction for success
• Negotiation and influencing skills; ability to report regularly on results and progress
• Experience with external communication with public sector and stakeholders
