Position Summary
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Digital Pathology organization.
- Establish and execute the enterprise Digital Pathology strategy, technology roadmap, and innovation agenda.
- Oversee Digital Pathology operations: slide scanning, image quality control, archival scanning, image management, workflow distribution, and operational performance.
- Lead clinical validation programs for digital pathology technologies, software platforms, image analysis tools, AI applications, and workflow enhancements.
- Direct enterprise software implementation (digital pathology platforms, image management systems, workflow tools, AI applications, and lab integrations) and ensure software validation, UAT, deployment planning, change management, and end-user adoption.
- Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, NYS, ISO, FDA, and other applicable regulatory/accreditation requirements.
- Partner to advance computational pathology, machine learning, and AI capabilities; build data governance and dashboards/analytics frameworks.
- Lead vendor selection, contract negotiations, performance management, and long-term technology partnerships; optimize internal/external systems and infrastructure.
- Sponsor cross-functional digital transformation initiatives and report quarterly/annual/strategic operational, adoption, and financial performance.
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate (PhD/MD/DO/PharmD) in related fields, or Masterβs with significant equivalent executive leadership experience.
- 12+ years progressive Digital/Computational Pathology, Lab Ops, or Healthcare Technology experience.
- 8+ years leading managers/directors and cross-functional teams in clinical lab/health tech/regulated settings.
- Executive leadership in CLIA/CAP/NYS/ISO/FDA-regulated (or similar) environments.
- Proven enterprise digital pathology programs, transformation initiatives, clinical validation, software implementation/integration, and enterprise change management.
- Experience managing strategic vendor/technology/business partnerships; strong knowledge of lab operations, workflows, quality systems, validation, regulatory requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MD/PhD/dual) or experience in computational pathology/AI/ML/image analytics.
- Collaboration with pharma/biotech/academics/health tech; commercialization/operationalization of digital pathology/diagnostics.
- Experience with whole-slide imaging, enterprise image management, cloud/interoperability standards.
- Strong software SDLC/product management and healthcare implementation methodology knowledge.
