Position Purpose
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic communications initiatives to build identity, reputation, and visibility across stakeholders (media, patient advocacy, potential customers, employees).
Responsibilities
- Develop communications strategies/plans for corporate and product stories to external audiences.
- Lead, develop, direct, and manage external communications initiatives (media and key constituency relations).
- Partner with executive and functional teams to maintain corporate brand, positioning, and messaging.
- Advise product/project teams on communications and message development.
- Direct the media relations program and maintain relationships with healthcare, biotech business, and local media.
- Support development of communications materials (press releases, fact sheets, talking points, Q&A documents).
- Create and update corporate website content.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (legal, commercial, clinical operations, regulatory/compliance, SMEs) for key external communications.
- Support partnerships with patient advocacy groups.
- Oversee PR agencies, budgets, and program measurement.
- Support internal communications to foster morale, communicate HR/benefits info, integrate new employees, and roll out internal initiatives.
Qualifications
- 7+ years progressive communications experience in pharmaceuticals/biotech.
- Experience with public pharma/biotech companies (PR agency + in-house preferred); late-stage programs and commercial launches a plus.
- Track record leading external/internal communications strategies and tactics.
- Ability to adapt to evolving market/competitive dynamics; sound judgment.
- Strong executive leadership, communication/presentation, and business partnering.
- Ability to influence leadership teams in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
- Strategic/analytical thinking; intellectual curiosity.
- Strong customer relationship building.
- Excellent planning/organization and multitasking.
- Knowledge of commercial compliance and industry laws/regulations.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
- BA/BS required; MBA preferred.
