Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Head of Commercial (our note- we believe this is https://www.linkedin.com/in/brandonkotaniemi/) the Vice President, Commercial Operations and Analytics will be responsible for establishing and leading Mural’s commercial operations and analytics functions. This role will be a critical member of the commercial leadership team and ensure that we have the necessary infrastructure, processes, and technologies in place to drive the successful commercialization of nemvaleukin alfa and future pipeline products. We are seeking an individual with a proven track record of leading high-performing commercial operations teams and successfully driving operational excellence in the biotech industry.
Key Responsibilities:
· Function Development:
o Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial operations and analytics strategy, including territory planning, sales performance tracking and analytics, incentive programming, and the development and delivery of customer engagement, sales enablement tools and databased and infrastructure to support analytics, insights, forecasting and budgeting
o Establish and scale Mural’s commercial operations and analytics function by recruiting top industry talent to build a high-performing team.
· Strategic Leadership: Serve as a key member of the Commercial Leadership Team, contributing to the development and execution of commercial strategy, as well as the commercial, operational and launch plans that align with company goals.
· Field Effectiveness & Operations: Oversee field force operations, including territory planning, sales performance tracking, incentive programming, and the creation of customer engagement and sales enablement tools.
· Sales, Marketing and Market Access Collaboration: Partner with sales, marketing and market access leadership to lead field force sizing, resource allocation, and performance reporting to optimize commercial performance.
· Sales Tools & CRM: Lead the build, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of critical sales tools, including CRM systems, data analytics platforms, and sales dashboards to enable field teams.
· Market Insights & Analytics: Oversee and develop strategy for market insights, analytics, and competitive intelligence functions, providing actionable business recommendations based on data-driven analysis.
· Database & Infrastructure Development: Lead the development of databases and infrastructure to support analytics, forecasting, budgeting, and other critical business functions.
· Actionable Insights & Recommendations: Deliver key insights to the leadership team through detailed market research, competitor analysis, and forecasting to guide business decisions.
· Compensation Plans: Develop and manage competitive compensation plans in collaboration with HR designed to attract, reward, and retain top talent across the commercial organization.
· Event & Meeting Planning: Oversee the planning and execution of scientific meetings and internal events, including the development of promotional materials and logistical support for the commercial team at key congresses in partnership with other functions.
· Training & Development: Lead the commercial training and development team to ensure the field force is equipped with the knowledge, tools, and skills required for success. Develop training programs aligned with the needs of each launch and key product updates.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams across the organization, including Commercial Leadership, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, and IT, to ensure alignment and effective execution of commercial strategies.
· Vendor & Consultant Management: Oversee external vendors and consultants supporting various commercial functions, including data analytics, market research, competitive intelligence, and sales planning.
· Budget Management: Manage the annual budget for the Commercial Operations and Analytics organization, ensuring efficient resource allocation and spending in alignment with business objectives.
Qualifications:
· BS/BA degree in business or a related discipline; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MPH) preferred.
· At least 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, including 5-7 years in senior leadership roles in commercial operations.
· Strong experience in oncology and biologics is highly preferred, with a demonstrated ability to drive successful product launches in oncology.
· Proven track record of successfully leading high-performing teams in hybrid, fast-paced environments, with the ability to make and stand by difficult decisions in a collaborative and compliant manner.
· Deep experience influencing and collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior leadership, including interfacing with internal and external stakeholders, scientific teams, and commercial teams.
· Strong business acumen, with the ability to deliver actionable recommendations and strategic insights to guide business decisions and drive growth.
· Exceptional communication skills, capable of presenting effectively to both field teams and senior leadership, including the Board of Directors.
· Ability to build trust and foster collaboration across the organization, earning the confidence of both direct reports and senior leadership.
