Position Summary:
- Vice President, Clinical Development (Nephrology) providing overall clinical, scientific, and strategic oversight for Rare Kidney Disease programs (Phases 1–4); co-project lead in a matrix environment.
Responsibilities:
- Global Development Physician Lead as part of the Program Strategy Team (PST); represent programs to executive leadership and study teams.
- Communicate program goals, strategies, plans, issues, and risks to stakeholders and review boards.
- Lead development of protocols and clinical/scientific strategy for Phases 1–4.
- Provide clinical/regulatory insights (pre-IND to NDA/BLA) including Human Factor/device understanding.
- Provide strategic input on rare metabolic/genetic disease landscape, biometrics analyses, publications, and presentations.
- Partner with Biometrics for data entry, analysis, and interpretation; contribute to PST and Medical Affairs.
- Ensure clinical content quality for protocols, investigator brochures, medical reports, efficacy/safety summaries, rationales, and benefit/risk.
- Lead/mentor Clinical Development staff; build stakeholder relationships (KOLs, investigators, alliance/external partners).
- Present at investigator meetings/site initiation visits; collaborate with Medical Affairs on scientific communications.
Education/Experience:
- M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. required; nephrology training and rare kidney disease drug development strongly preferred.
- 12+ years clinical research (trial design/execution); 8+ years leadership.
- NDA/BLA submissions experience preferred.
Skills/Requirements:
- Cross-functional matrix leadership; strong written/oral communication.
- Devices/Human Factors preferred; ability to review/present complex data.
- Travel 25–30%; onsite in San Diego essential (not 100% remote).
