Role Summary

We are seeking a Vice President of Accounting and Financial Reporting who will report to the Chief Financial Officer. You will focus on leading Celcuityโ€šร„รดs external reporting processes, oversee technical accounting matters, and ensure compliance with SEC and GAAP requirements. This role oversees the Controller and related accounting functions to ensure the accuracy, transparency, and regulatory compliance of Celcuity's financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SEC reporting and technical accounting within a public company.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and review of all SEC filings, including 10-K, 10-Q, and other periodic filings, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors, legal teams, and senior management on SEC filings and disclosure requirements.
  • Develop internal review processes to ensure and distribution of SEC reports and disclosures to meet strict deadlines.

  • Provide technical accounting expertise on complex transactions in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Research, interpret, and document the impact of new accounting standards and SEC regulations on the companyโ€šร„รดs financial statements.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with evolving industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate and implement new processes and systems related to accounting standards and reporting.
  • Partner with the finance and accounting teams to ensure robust internal control procedures are in place and updated regularly to mitigate financial reporting risks.
  • Oversee technical accounting for equity compensation, revenue recognition, collaboration agreements, and equity and debt financing.
  • Provide insight to executive management on accounting implications of key transactions and initiatives.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Mentor and lead the accounting functions, fostering a collaborative environment focused on professional growth and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with senior management, including the Chief Financial Officer, on strategic financial initiatives, reporting needs, and technical accounting matters.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance technical expertise and leadership capability across the accounting function.

Qualifications

  • Fifteen plus (15+) years of accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Senior Director, VP, or Controller) within a public company.
  • Strong background in SEC reporting, technical accounting, corporate accounting, and equity plans, including stock-based compensation.
  • Prior experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences strongly preferred.
  • CPA required; Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience strengthening accounting systems, controls, and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with SEC and GAAP standards.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to balance hands-on execution with strategic oversight in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to influence and build credibility at all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with employees and leaders across various levels and functions.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple processes and documentation requirements.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with advanced knowledge in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work in a team or independently as required.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.
