Vertex Spring Co-Op 2027, Long Read Sequencing

Role: Vertex Long Read Sequencing Co-Op, a 6-month training program for students in Biological Sciences or related fields, focusing on developing long-read sequencing assays. Responsibilities: conduct experiments involving RNA sequencing, plasmid integration, and mRNA analysis using Oxford Nanopore systems; analyze data with bioinformatics tools like minimap2, samtools, DESEQ2; establish workflows and report findings. Requirements: Master's or PhD in Systems Biology, Computational Biology, Developmental Biology, Stem Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or Biological Engineering; experience with nucleic acid extraction, library prep, bioinformatics (R, Python, Linux); enrolled in an advanced degree program, eligible to work in the U.S., available full-time Jan–June 2027.
