Role Summary
Vertex Spring Co-op 2026, Research β 6-month experiential training program for students pursuing undergraduate or advanced degrees in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biophysics, Cell Biology, Cell Physiology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Genetics, or related fields. Provides meaningful experience in Vertexβs Research functional areas and serves as a launchpad for your career.
Responsibilities
- Support diverse research functions across Vertexβs areas, including Discovery Research, Analytical Development, Discovery Core, Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics, Human Assay Technologies, Integrated Pharmacology, and Vector Core Intern activities.
- Contribute to assay development and execution, culture and scale-up of cells, and other laboratory tasks as part of team projects.
- Collaborate with biologists and researchers; engage in sophisticated biological experiments and communicate effectively within the team.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biophysics, Cell Biology, Cell Physiology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Genetics, or related fields
- Legal authorization to work in the United States now and in the future (no sponsorship for internships in this specific part of the organization)
- Must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before June 2026
- Available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from January β June 2026
Skills
- Experience with cell culture or molecular techniques (e.g., qPCR, Western blotting, immunocytochemistry, imaging) preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities; demonstrated collaboration within a team
- Ability to execute sophisticated biological experiments and adapt to multiple projects
Education
- Corresponding undergraduate or graduate degree program in the specified fields (as above)
