Role Summary
The Vertex CGT Process Development Co-Op program is a 6-month experiential training program for students currently working towards undergraduate or advanced degree in Chemical, Biological, Biomedical Engineering, or other related fields. If you are passionate, collaborative, and growth-minded, a co-op at Vertex will help you gain meaningful experience in our process development functional areas and serve as a launchpad for your career.
Responsibilities
- The intern/Co-op will be working in the CGT Process Development department. More specifically, the intern/Co-op will be a part of the DS3 scale-up team with the goal of scaling-up the T1D CPI process to enable the successful tech transfer to VMC and LPO.
- The key deliverable is to develop a scale-down model at the benchtop scale that can accurately replicate the hydrodynamic and mass transfer conditions of a large-scale bioreactor for the T1D scale-up program. The project will require intern/co-op to design and perform lab-scale experiment focused on agitation, gassing, and mixing. The intern/co-op will work with CO2 probes, DO probes, biomass probes, metabolite analyzers, and other analytical instruments.
