The Vertex Lab Space Planning Co-op program is a 6-month experiential training program for students pursuing an undergraduate degree in Facilities Management, Architecture, or related fields.
What You Will Be Doing
- Evaluate and provide solutions for lab-space-impact requests (e.g., adding equipment, shelving/lab benches, rearranging labs, moving labs).
- Support larger projects including lab programming for new buildings/spaces and restacks.
- Prepare for an upcoming large-scale lab move by confirming equipment locations and performing move-prep planning.
- Support day-to-day lab space requests (equipment, layouts, moves, casework changes) and request updates to master architectural drawings.
- Interface with Lab Space Planning, Workplace Services, Instrumentation Engineering, EHS, Lab Operations, Engineering Documentation, PMO, Move Consultants, and scientific end users.
What You Will Need To Succeed
- Pursuing a BS in Facilities Management or Architecture.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and project management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Bluebeam experience preferred.
- Full-time onsite capacity in Boston, MA.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States (Vertex does not sponsor for internships/entry-level in this area).
- Enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before Dec 2026.
- Available 40 hours/week July–December 2026.

- Full-time paid co-op: $20.00–32.00 USD/hour; July–December 2026.
