Role Summary
The Vertex Gene Editing and Delivery Research Co-Op program is a 6-month experiential training opportunity for students pursuing an undergraduate or advanced degree in cellular biology, chemistry, material science, biochemistry, biophysics, biomedical engineering, or related fields. It provides hands-on exposure to gene editing and delivery research areas and serves as a launchpad for your career.
Responsibilities
- Design, formulate, and analyze LNP formulations using industry standard protocols.
- Maintain clear and complete documentation of experimental records in the electronic lab notebook.
- Understand and adapt to strategic changes in a dynamic and fast-paced drug development environment.
- Work in a cross-functional ecosystem to learn new techniques and expand technical capabilities for effective teamwork and collaboration.
- Present high-quality data to the team and department.
Qualifications
- Ph.D., Masterโs, or bachelorโs degree (degree obtained or currently pursuing) in cellular biology, chemistry, material science, biochemistry, biophysics, biomedical engineering or related disciplines.
- Hands-on experience in various LNP formulation processes such as mixing technologies and purification techniques.
- Knowledge and/or experience in various LNP characterization analytical assays such as size/PDI, RNA encapsulation efficiency, and pKa assays.
- Strong work ethic and communication skills, commitment to scientific rigor, and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States, now and in the future. Vertex does not provide sponsorship for internships or entry level roles in this part of the organization.
- You must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before December 2026.
- You must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from July โ December 2026.
