Role Summary
Vertex Fall Co-op 2026, Analytical Development is a 6-month co-op for students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields. The program provides hands-on experience in the analytical development function, offering opportunities to organize data, develop models, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. The role is onsite in Boston, MA, from July through December 2026, with a full-time schedule (40 hours per week).
Responsibilities
- Data-driven insights for advancing PATs for cell and gene therapy manufacturing: organizing and mining process data to uncover insights, building a master data matrix for in-process data combined with off-line orthogonal measurements, exploring biocapacitance trends for cell expansion and differentiation, and developing RAMAN models for media components.
- Key Deliverables at Project Completion:
- A well-established master matrix for in-process data collection
- Predictive models using biocapacitance data to predict cell expansion and/or differentiation
- Robust models to convert Raman spectra data to 1-3 additional media components
- Key Learnings Expected:
- Data analysis, visualization, modeling, mining
- Process analytical technology instrumentation and implementation
- GMP assay validation strategies
- Scaling technology from bench scale to production scale
- Simple cell culture techniques
