Director, Medical Science Liaison (Vaccines MSL Field Director, West)
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead overall MSL team performance and ongoing capability development (lead, coach, manage).
- Own MSL performance metrics by setting clear team expectations and driving continuous improvement.
- Develop strategy, processes, and capabilities to optimize scientific engagement with external experts.
- Share consolidated medical insights across the business and represent the medical voice of external experts and patients.
- Integrate MSLs within Medical Affairs and align MSL activities with strategic business plans via cross-functional collaboration.
- Partner with Sales leadership to ensure optimal alignment between Sales and MSL teams.
- Prioritize work and MSL resources (e.g., operational budget, staffing) to meet medical plans.
- Recruit and onboard new MSL team members.
- Ensure MSL compliance with GSK standards/policies and applicable codes/laws through sound medical judgment.
Basic Qualifications:
- Accredited doctorate in life-science/basic-science (Pharm.D., D.Sc., D.N.P., Ph.D., or M.D./D.O.).
- 6+ yearsβ experience in an MSL organization.
- 1+ year experience leading a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years in Vaccines or Infectious Disease; pharma industry experience.
- Strong coaching/management, communication, matrix leadership, cross-functional collaboration, networking.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical governance; operational management; negotiation/strategic influence.
- Understanding of clinical development and statistical design/analysis; strong analytical/problem-solving.
Compensation/Benefits (US): Annual base salary range: $221,100β$368,500 (certain listed locations) or $201,000β$335,000 (other US locations). Also includes annual bonus, share-based long-term incentive, and benefits (health/insurance, retirement, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental & medical leave).
