Role Summary
The Vaccine Account Manager (VAM) is the primary liaison with large, complex healthcare delivery networks (e.g., Health Systems, State CDC Awardees, major health departments, and Federally Qualified Health Centers) to understand customer needs and deliver a customized vaccine value proposition. The role requires strong customer engagement, knowledge of healthcare contracting, and the ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize patient access to vaccines. The VAM works with field teams to drive growth of the vaccine portfolio within integrated delivery networks.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Account Development and Management: Build partnerships with large-organized customers, identify objectives, develop customer-specific business plans, navigate complex organizational structures, work with Public Sector decision makers, and manage key accounts through business reviews and educational programs.
- Sales Excellence & Revenue Generation: Achieve/exceed targets for volume, dosing, market share, and annual sales; define objectives and KPIs; support contracting efforts; execute consultative selling to position vaccines as a leading intervention.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Sales leadership and internal teams to meet customer needs; support vaccination programs across channels; collaborate with Contracting, Medical Affairs, Marketing, and Market Access to present the clinical, economic, and operational value of vaccines.
- Clinical & Scientific Expertise: Develop vaccine knowledge, disease states, immunization guidelines; provide evidence-based education to healthcare professionals; stay current with CDC guidelines and health metrics.
- Market Intelligence & Analysis: Analyze account performance, market trends, and formulary landscapes; provide feedback on positioning and pricing.
- Administrative & Compliance: Maintain CRM records; complete training and compliance modules; ensure promotional activities comply with regulations and company policies.
- Success Metrics & Key Performance Indicators: Include annual sales targets, stakeholder mapping, and other organization-defined metrics; measure field and account coverage.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree
- Required: Previous vaccines sales experience
- Required: Minimum 5 years combined in Pharmaceutical Sales, Pharmaceutical Marketing, Payer and/or Business Development Experience
- Required: Valid driver’s license
- Required: Travel up to 40% (based on district size)
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in business, public health, hospital administration, or similar field
- Preferred: Deep knowledge of healthcare contracting
- Preferred: Expertise in vaccines marketplace, GSK and competitive portfolios
- Preferred: Deep knowledge of Health Systems business model, stakeholders, and decision-making (P&T, formulary)
- Preferred: Experience calling on C/D-level in large, complex healthcare networks (e.g., IDNs)
- Preferred: Experience leading in a matrixed organization
