Role Summary

Utilities Technician Apprentice Program, US, 2026 at GSK. Full-time entry-level apprenticeship for high school graduates and first-year college students to begin their career while studying towards an associate degree. The program provides tailored training in biopharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, with college study funded by GSK and a path to a recognized qualification upon completion.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with complex manufacturing processes in a highly automated, regulated environment – ensuring quality, safety and accuracy in all that we do
  • Operate specialized highly automated equipment to manufacture products
  • Monitor and analyze production processes and data, utilizing various instruments and control systems
  • Work in teams to continuously improve the functionality of automated equipment and processes
  • Work in a compliant manner to ensure safety of self, others and the environment
  • Support and drive continuous improvement objectives, participate in daily tier meetings, scheduling as needed
  • Adopt a safety-first, quality-always mindset

Qualifications

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent by June 2026; GPA 2.8 or above in core subjects; less than 36 college credits; fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Preferred: AP Biology or Chemistry; study of more than one life science; high school Physics; high school Pre-Calculus; STEM-related courses in high school
  • Other requirements: 18 years of age by August 1, 2026; less than 2 years of related work experience since high school; willingness to enroll in related instruction at a partner college; ability to commute up to 60 minutes each way

Skills

  • Ability to follow directions and complete daily assignments with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance independently
  • Ability to execute more complex projects and diagnose problems with senior technicians
  • Develop utility skills through on-the-job training and formal GSK training
  • Accurate and complete documentation (logbooks, permits, work orders); stay current with site, EHS, regulatory, and global training
  • Adherence to safety procedures and safe work practices
  • Demonstrated progression within two years

Education

  • Associate degree in Biotechnology or Engineering in progress at partner community college (study ~1 day/week)
  • On-the-job training with rotation through manufacturing facilities over 3–4 years

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to commute daily to the GSK worksite and related instruction facility
