Utilities Maintenance Technician

Role Summary

The Utilities Maintenance Technician supports the Lilly Kenosha County campus by servicing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC (GMP and Non-GMP) and related utilities systems. Working within the Utilities, Facilities, and Project Engineering team, you will help improve equipment uptime, line efficiency, and overall equipment effectiveness through troubleshooting, condition monitoring, and engineering changes, while adhering to safety procedures and accurate CMMS documentation.

Responsibilities

The Utilities Maintenance Technician is expected to understand the needs and requirements of Operations and to work effectively with customers, providing responsive, tactful service.

• Improve equipment uptime, line efficiency, and overall equipment effectiveness in a production environment by condition monitoring, troubleshooting, and assisting in engineering changes.
• Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and repair equipment while following departmental rules and regulations.
• Prioritize safety and abide by applicable safety procedures and practices.
• Troubleshoot root causes of machine problems (e.g., excessive vibration or temperature, bearing failures, abnormal noises, and poor performance).
• Perform repairs and overhaul equipment (e.g., gear boxes, pumps, blowers, fans, and drives) including disassembly, setting tolerances, aligning, and timing adjustments.
• Set up equipment to design specifications (timing, leveling, alignment).
• Operate precision alignment equipment (e.g., Rotalign, lasers, etc.).
• Diagnose root causes and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime quickly and accurately.
• Accurately document repair actions in the CMMS.
• Willing to assist in areas outside of primary responsibilities and learn other skills as required.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma / GED.
• Required: Minimum 2 years of Automation experience.

Skills

• Must be able to speak, read, and write English at a sufficient level to communicate technical and business information effectively.
• Must be able to effectively use business software programs, such as Maximo, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, and other required software programs.
• Must be able to effectively work in a team environment.
• Physical ability to work with or around equipment, climb ladders and stairs, and use PPE. May be exposed to harsh weather conditions as part of the job.
• Good, all-around hands-on experience with repair of equipment.
• Use basic troubleshooting equipment such as multimeters, calipers, etc.

Education

• High School Diploma / GED.

• Safety is paramount; the role involves working in and around potentially dangerous and hazardous equipment, powders, liquids, and gases.
