Role Summary

Utilities Engineering Manager at Lilly. Responsible for the technical and administrative leadership of utility engineers, maintaining the site’s utilities infrastructure to a state of compliance, and supporting GMP operations during startup and ongoing manufacturing activities at the Lebanon Plant API site.

Responsibilities

  • Build deep technical engineering expertise in Central Utilities (Steam, Chilled Water, Tower Water, Compressed Air, Water Pre-Treatment, Boiler Feedwater) and Manufacturing Critical Utilities (Purified Water, Glycol, Heat Transfer Fluids).
  • Oversee all systems under responsibility (GMP and Non-GMP Utilities and ancillary systems), trend critical process parameters, and stay aligned with industry standards and Lilly expectations.
  • Ensure compliance activities (deviations, change controls, CAPAs) are resolved and implemented with other teams.
  • Ensure assigned systems/processes align with external regulations and Lilly standards and best practices.
  • Lead and participate in teams or operate individually to achieve departmental, site, and company goals.
  • Lead and manage resources effectively; ensure training and compliance with programs, procedures, and policies; oversee learning plans.
  • Lead safety communications, participate in safety audits, and drive safety culture and performance management.
  • Provide technical guidance and development for engineers; support career development and objectives for the team.
  • Provide engineering direction for projects, design needs, regulatory and internal audit support, incident reporting and corrective measures.
  • Maintain a continuous state of compliance, improve processes, and ensure documentation for changes and projects, including HSE documentation.
  • Develop and maintain local processes and procedures related to the fume system; support safety and environmental initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Required: 5+ years of extensive progressive chemical process and plant experience.
  • Required: 2+ years of supervisory experience in engineering.
  • Preferred: Experience in facility/area startup environments; demonstrated manufacturing or maintenance leadership; strong collaboration, decision-making, and interpersonal skills; effective written and verbal communication; ability to prioritize and meet targets.
