About The Role
Location: Cambridge, MA
Major Accountabilities
- Establish a high-performance operation meeting agreed service levels; drive operational excellence and continuous improvement; accountable for statutory responsibilities and signing authority; represent REFS as senior site owner/local operational leader.
- Act as strategic business partner managing relationships with strategic partners/stakeholders through proactive demand & supply management.
- P&L accountability; ensure campus appearance and operability; proactively drive improvements and adjust budgeted resources/offers to meet business demand.
- Lead real estate & facility services performance, including pharmaceutical R&D laboratory operations; manage external workforce via negotiated contracts; ensure KPI/service levels are met through monitoring and customer feedback.
- Set site objectives and prepare budgets aligned with the long-term business plan; partner with US REFS DCM head on cluster CAPEX and maintain campus strategic master plans.
- Partner with US REFS Head of Real Estate for leased properties: competitive market pricing and alignment of space needs with lease terminations.
- Develop relationships with Novartis business areas; convert business needs into footprint strategy.
- Facilitate change management for work environment/service/amenities; ensure adherence to statutory requirements (buildings, land use, permitting, life safety); participate in inspections/audits.
- Manage within Novartis budgetary guidelines; drive talent retention/development and an inclusive culture.
- Coach/mentor teams; stretch capabilities; motivate to achieve challenging objectives.
Minimum Requirements
- 10β15 years in operations (facility/plant management); proven technical ability for infrastructure/building/lab systems.
- Understanding of statutory requirements: building codes, life safety, permits, land use.
- Knowledge of GxP, BOMA, land use, basic leasing terms; pharma regulatory knowledge.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills; stakeholder management with senior leader communication.
- Ability to build partnerships with internal/external organizations.
- Proven collaboration across cross-functional teams with multiple stakeholders.
- Real estate/asset management and financial management.
Compensation/Benefits
- Pay range expected: $168,000β$312,000 annually. Total compensation may include discretionary bonuses and medical/financial benefits, 401(k) with company contribution, and paid time off (details upon offer).
