Role Summary

Undergrad Co-op in Operations - Electrical, located in West Greenwich, RI, for Summer 2026. This 10-week assignment supports electrical system operation and maintenance across the ARI site, reporting to a Maintenance Manager within the Facilities & Engineering Department.

Responsibilities

  • Gain experience operating a large-scale production facility by shadowing technicians in various functions within the Facilities & Engineering department to operate, maintain, and sustain all major electrical equipment on site.
  • Take part in improvement projects related to the electrical systems at ARI by supporting day-to-day operations to ensure safe, compliant, effective, efficient, and cost appropriate utility operations at ARI.
  • Assist Amgen Electrical group in troubleshooting and repair of equipment and systems
  • Ensure activities are accomplished in a safe manner
  • Assist Amgen Electrical group to ensure work order documentation is completed accurately and completely
  • Identify opportunities to learn new skills and actively participate in development that will improve overall knowledge
  • Collaborate with Facilities & Engineering peers within the Amgen network

Qualifications

  • Required: 18 years or older
  • Required: Currently enrolled in a full-time Associate's degree program or a Bachelor's Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
  • Required: Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship or co-op commencing
  • Required: Enrolled in a full-time Bachelor's degree program or Associate's degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
  • Required: Must not be employed at the time the internship or co-op starts
  • Required: Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship or co-op
  • Preferred: Completed or ongoing coursework in Mechanical engineering technology
  • Preferred: Completed or ongoing coursework in Electrical engineering technology
  • Preferred: Electronics/instrumentation/controls systems and automation
  • Preferred: Welding technology
  • Preferred: HVAC/refrigeration
  • Preferred: Plumbing/pipefitting
  • Preferred: Knowledge and understanding of working in a highly regulated function
  • Preferred: Equipment troubleshooting skills
  • Preferred: Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems
  • Preferred: Ability to understand drawings, P&IDs and equipment schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Preferred: Ability to follow written procedures and job instructions to operate and maintain systems and equipment
