Role: UAS Systems Integration Engineer II responsible for developing and optimizing the hardware and firmware of fixed-wing UAV platforms for scientific missions. Objectives include designing, tuning, and debugging autopilot systems, developing custom electronics and payload integrations, and supporting field deployment and testing. Responsibilities encompass firmware development in ArduPilot (C++), airframe design, RF link architecture, ground station software creation, and system diagnostics through flight log analysis. Qualifications require a Bachelor's or Master's in aerospace, electrical, mechanical engineering, or computer science, with 2-4 years (BS) or 0-2 years (MS) of hands-on hardware/software systems integration experience, proficiency in C++, Python, and experience with ArduPilot or PX4 autopilots. Preferred skills include RF link design, electronics PCB design, payload integration, and FAA Part 107 certification, with experience in BVLOS operations advantageous. The position involves cross-disciplinary work across firmware, avionics, airframe, and payload systems, with a focus on long-range, precision scientific UAV missions. Location is Boulder, CO.
