Role: Systems Integration Engineer II for UAV hardware development, focusing on fixed-wing drone platforms used in scientific missions. Responsibilities: configure and optimize autopilot firmware (ArduPilot), design and iterate on airframes for endurance and payload capacity, develop and troubleshoot C2 link architectures for BVLOS operations, and support flight testing from pre-flight checks to hardware and firmware fixes. Additional duties include payload integration, electronics design, ground station software development, and flight log analysis to improve system reliability. Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's in aerospace, electrical, mechanical engineering, or related fields; 2-4 years (BS) or 0-2 years (MS) experience in hardware/software systems integration; proficiency in C++, Python, ArduPilot, and MAVLink; hands-on electronics and PCB design skills; familiarity with long-range RF link design, spectrum compliance, and atmospheric sensing payloads; FAA Part 107 or BVLOS waiver experience is a plus.
