Role Summary

The Transportation Coordinator coordinates and oversees the shipping and receiving of finished goods, packaging, raw materials, and machinery to and from company facilities and affiliates, domestically and internationally. This role supports daily logistics operations and provides feedback to the Supervisor of Logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily activity to track location and movement of inventory, finished goods, packaging, and raw materials, machinery, via rail, barge, truck, and other transportation modes.
  • Obtain shipping rates for transportation requests to ensure cost efficiency, security, and timeliness.
  • Coordinate international shipping processes, ensuring clearance and delivery; work with freight forwarders and brokers to smooth the process from shipper to consignee.
  • Utilize transportation provider software systems to plan and schedule material movement.
  • Prepare and update monthly reports and inform the Supervisor of any issues.
  • Verify shipping quotes (domestic and international) for cost efficiency and accuracy.
  • Re-route freight as needed to meet demands and minimize costs.
  • Support/back up Inventory Control as needed.
  • Support development, implementation, and execution of transportation/logistics software as needed.
  • Provide support to multiple departments within the organization as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, environmental, safety, and hazardous waste regulations.
  • Communicate fulfillment status and issues within the organization to Logistics Management, Sales, and Customer Service.
  • Maintain documentation and ratings on carriers (e.g., Cargo Liability Certificates, Hazmat Certification, Safety Ratings, Interstate Commerce Authority).

Qualifications

  • High School or GED - Required
  • 3 years or more in Logistics / Warehouse / Distribution experience - Preferred
  • 3 years or more in Administrative / Office / Customer Service experience - Preferred
