Role Summary

Translational Science Associate Director Immunology Cell Therapy tasked with implementing translational and biomarker objectives for cellular therapies in immune-mediated diseases, leading translational studies, and collaborating across research, development, and CROs to support clinical programs.

Responsibilities

  • Implement translational and biomarker objectives for cellular therapies in immune-mediated diseases.
  • Foster effective collaborations between research and development; establish target-to-disease connections; differentiate AZ cellular therapeutics.
  • Drive translational understanding of clinical trial data and lead translational studies and deliverables with CROs and collaborators.
  • Support new and ongoing clinical studies and enable LCM strategy and new program strategies as a GPT-level translational lead.
  • Serve as an authority in translational science, addressing difficult drug projects and complex scientific problems with innovative solutions.

Qualifications

  • PhD or MD-PhD required; Immunology training preferred.
  • 5 years of industry experience with at least 3 years in clinical development or translational science (industry or combined with academia).
  • Strong understanding of immune-mediated disease pathogenesis and application of cellular/molecular technologies to drive program decisions.
  • Experience in clinical biomarker development for T-cell therapy or other advanced modalities, in-house or with CROs.
  • Experience in BM, precision medicine, and IND filings.
  • Ability to learn rapidly; proven track record leading CROs for translational studies and biomarkers for clinical trials.
  • Authoring experience for regulatory documents; understanding of the full drug development process.
  • Knowledge of translational/clinical research methodology and biostatistics; familiarity with FDA/EMA/MHRA/ICH GCP guidelines.
  • Experience beyond Phase 1 preferred; detail-oriented with strong communication and strategic planning skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver results and lead complex projects; outstanding verbal and written communication.
