Your Role

Reporting to the Vice President, Biology Research, the Translational Medicine Laboratory Senior Scientist I will serve as a direct scientific contributor to Translational Medicine project teams, facilitating advancement of preclinical and clinical biomarker activities as well as other translational medicine work plans for maturing oncology drug programs.

Location Classification – Lab-Based

This role will be required to work on site 5 days a week as the majority of the work will be conducted in our laboratory facility.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with manager and other translational medicine leaders to implement scientific laboratory activities with minimal supervision.
  • Contribute intellectually to experimental design and partner with manager and other scientific leaders to prepare data summaries of complex scientific studies based on exploratory clinical biomarker data and published literature.
  • Work as part of a team to develop new intellectual property and co-author patent applications and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Experience in analyzing, interpreting, and visualizing scientific data, including flow cytometry.
  • Collaborate with project teams in identifying research approaches, hypotheses to be tested, and program milestones to achieve program objective for translational medicine.
  • Partner with other lab-based biologists and scientific colleagues to ensure a healthy community culture of teamwork and SpringWorks Therapeutics culture/value growth.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Role Requirements

  • Education: Ph.D. in cancer biology, immunology, or related life sciences plus 5 years’ related experience, or Master’s degree in cancer biology, immunology, or related life sciences plus 8 years’ experience preferred.
  • Prior cancer biomarker, animal disease model or other oncology translational medicine experience in biotech/pharma; ideally, in a drug discovery/development setting.
  • Direct experience in translational oncology research.
  • Knowledge of principles, theories, and practices in scientific disciplines for oncology based translational medicine with foundational knowledge of key oncogenic driver signaling pathways including biomarker selection/experimental testing and disease models.
  • Expertise in molecular and cellular biology to execute on in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo experiments using relevant disease models and systems.
  • Experienced in use of standard techniques for preclinical and clinical biomarker assessments including Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), multi-parameter flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF), proliferation and apoptosis assays, western blots, and omics-based approaches.
  • Scientific creativity and productivity in drug discovery/development for translational medicine with an ability to utilize both internal and external resources to execute relevant biomarker and proliferation/efficacy experiments.
  • Experience in the interpretation, analysis, documentation, and assistance in preparation for presentation of key findings.
  • Proficiency in software utilized to analyze and interpret relevant datasets, including GraphPad Prism, Flowjo, TCGA database, and others.
  • Ability to maintain detailed documentation through electronic and notebook means to support regulatory and intellectual property and patent filings, as well as peer-reviewed publications.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to collaborate with colleagues, stakeholders, and vendors effectively and clearly in a remote hybrid work environment.
  • Ability to travel occasionally including overnight stay driven by business need.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $114,330.00 - $150,000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
